The Feldman Lab is a research group focused on plant–fungal pathogen interactions and the molecular mechanisms underlying plant disease. We study how fungal pathogens develop, adapt, and form specialized infection structures during pathogenesis.
Our work combines fundamental molecular approaches with an interest in translating scientific discoveries into practical solutions for agriculture and biotechnology.
Dr. Feldman specializes in plant–pathogen interactions with a background in fungal biology. She investigates mechanisms of pathogenicity and development in fungal plant pathogens, bringing together molecular, genetic, and applied perspectives. Her work spans fundamental research and entrepreneurial applications in agriculture and biotechnology.
Research Areas
We study how fungal pathogens recognize, attach to, and colonize plant hosts — investigating the molecular dialogue between pathogen and plant at the interface of infection.
A central focus of the lab is understanding the developmental programs that fungal pathogens execute during infection — including appressorium formation, penetration, and host adaptation.
We investigate the genetic and biochemical determinants of virulence, seeking to identify key disease factors that can inform the development of novel, science-based approaches to crop protection.
